Winter Haven, Florida

Big Kahuna Tiki Huts recently built tiki huts for the American Legion Post 8 in Winter Haven in 2013 and 2014.  The first tiki hut built was an 11 by 14 square foot hut.  The hut was built on a deck and above  roof level of the American Legion building.  Four 24 foot pressure treated main support posts were used to build the tiki hut.

The newest tiki hut built this year was an 11 x 15 square foot hut, also built over roof level.  17 foot long pressure treated main support posts were used to build the hut.  This hut was also built over a second story deck.  Both huts have a one foot overhang and fresh cut palm fronds make up the roofs of the tiki huts.

The American Legion is a social and mutual-aid veterans' organization including members of the United States armed forces.  The organization was founded in 1919 by veterans returning from Europe after World War I.  The organization is headquarted in Indianapolis, Indiana, and the group has nearly 2.5 million members in over 14,000 Posts worldwide.  Approximately 300 American Legion Posts are in Florida.
